Guest Speaker / Post 7

Last week Thursday we have a guest speaker named Mitch Wagner, who is the editor-in-chief of the CMO site. This guest speaker is different from other speaker we had before. The reason for that is this is a writer not a businessman or expert marketing person. He's advice of blogging is more write what you think and do not fake it. Taking your audience as your friends, sharing your experience with them, exchanging ideas with them. Although your blog can not always about you, you need to share other information with them such as what do you do in your industry. People like gaining knowledge. In addition, from Wagner, when we writing blog, do not write it too long or too short. It is better between 350-500 words. If it is too long, your reader will lost their interest in that. If it is too short, it seems you did not take it serious and did not give them more information to reply your blog. Most importantly, here are some tips from Steven King’s writing:1 Get to the point; 2 Write a draft;3 If you get in slump, let it rest; 4 Cut down your text; 5 Don’t use these cliché’s; 6 Don’t care too much about what others think; 7 Read a lot; 8 Write a lot; 9 Have someone edit your work. This guest speaker gave me totally different angle to view how to use blog attracting your customers.

Guest Speaker / Assignment 7 (Blog Post)

Last week there is a guest speaker named Callan Green who is Blog Manager in advertising and public relations agency and also the Social Media Account Executive at  Baily Gardiner. I have to say she is one of my favorite speakers in this class. She teaches us what social media could do and how you can use social media to help your client's company to improve their work. In class, she used one of her client Del Mar Racetrack as an example case. Number is the best evidence to show your clients that you did a good job or not. Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare, Hospice, and YouTube are the tools that you can use to spreading the news of your client's company. Also, reply to your fan's message could encourage more people follow you. Most importantly, give some free tickets to your fan once a while could get more people follow you. This case of Der Mar Racetrack makes me realize that social media is like a game, you could never predict the result. As long as you put more thought in it, you will get more as a return.

Guest Speaker / Post 5

Last Thuesday we had a guest speaker whose name is Melonie. She is a social Media Director of an organization in San Diego. After heard her presentation I felt like I've learned a lot about social media.Social media are media for social interaction, using highly accessible and scalable communication techniques. Social media is the use of web-based and mobile technologies to turn communication into interactive dialogue. Also, we can use social media in our life to promote our product. For example, put our resume on Linkedln, twitter, online portfolio, blog are good ways to promote ourself. After most people read your resume they will contact you or your company. One of the key components in successful social media marketing implementation is building "social authority". Social authority is developed when an individual or organization establishes themselves as an "expert" in their given field or area, thereby becoming an influencer in that field or area.

Video Response - Post #4

As an asian, at first when I saw this video, I really get mad at this white girl. Personally, I am disagree with her behavior. For me, no matter how mad is she, she should not post the video against all Asian people especially post it on youtube. It is such a big offended to all Asian people.  From the beginning of her video, I am pretty sure she was really jealous of the good grade that most Asian people get. And for the country of Japan just had an earthquake, it is really not nice to say things like that. Moreover, it will also arise the racism problem. Before, I thought the United States is a melting pot, all races get along with each other in the big picture. After this video posted, it makes me think if most americans are welcoming us come to this amazing country or not; it makes scared to think the discrimination exists in this society. Also after read the letter from the white girl, I realized she got the result what she should got. She and her families got dead threaten, and even cannot got to university take the final exam. I am also disagree with the people who threaten the white girl and her families. It is not the right way to make her realize what she did was wrong. Seeing thousands of respond of the offensive video, I think the white girl have already learned her lesson. Yes, she has the right to say anything she wants. But it is not her right to hurt other group of people.

Guest Speakers / Post 3

Last week Thursday there is a wife and husband team came to our class shared the experience about raise 50,000 dollar in 60 days. This is such a valuable experience that I learned a website called "Kickstarter" from that. Kickstarter is a new way to fund creative ideas and ambitious endeavors. It is really fun when I heard that the projects on Kickstarter all has its deadline and minimum of funds to raise.Kickstarter pledge drives are "all or nothing," meaning that if the goal isn't met by the specified time then no one's credit cards are charged and the project doesn't get any of the pledged funds. Also, the advantages of Kickstarter is it is inexpensive, and your idea can reach mass like Facebook, Twitter, Blog, and Video. On the other hand, the disadvantages of Kickstarter is risking your idea. From the guest, I also learned the big secret of raising funds, such as collaborate, connect, and engage influencer. By the way, I hope their project of "Ride with Larry" will get success.
